Methanol. Technological development

Methanol synthesis technology is of priority orientation.

Development of methanol technology started from schemes based on high-temperature synthesis at high pressure using traditional zinc-chromium catalysts.

Later on researches were carried out and a low-pressure process (5-10 MPa) was developed using copper-zinc catalysts.

Development of methanol synthesis was determinated by manufacturing requirements and world tendencies in science and technology, and followed the direction of:

  • creation of energy- and utility-saving methanol technology;
  • intensifying and upgrading of existing production plants;
  • production combining and integration;
  • use of alternative raw material sources for methanol production.
